Colin Mallett
Non-Executive Director and Advisor
Colin Mallett has worked in industrial research for over 50 years. Since 2008 he has focussed on smart energy and renewables, including a significant number of Innovate UK-funded projects. His inventions include the smart solar panel and his company, Trusted Renewables Ltd has licenced these patents in 34 sunny countries around the world.
Colin started his career at Post Office Research Station, Dollis Hill, initially working on digital radio and millimetre wave systems. He was instrumental to the BT Laboratories team which developed the first and second-generation transatlantic undersea optical system and then joined BT’s Mobile Research Centre where he was responsible for BT’s mobile application platforms corporate research programme, with a special focus on security, and authentication for converged IoT services.
He has a BSc in Electrical Engineering from Bath University, an MSc in Telecoms from Essex University and has been a Visiting Industrial Fellow at the University of Hertfordshire. He is a Chartered Engineer and Board Member of the Smart Homes & Buildings Association
